Supplements
Through dietary assessments, it is possible for the dietitian to recommend
vitamin and mineral supplements if a certain area of the diet is lacking in
particular nutrients, although it is always preferable to try and get these
vitamins and minerals through the normal diet first as vitamin and mineral
supplementation can be costly.
If undernutrition and weight loss is a problem or if a client has received
a high screening score and sufficient energy intake cannot be achieved via a
normal dietary pattern then there are a wide range of nutritional supplements
in liquid format that are available on both the GMS and DPS schemes and the
dietitian can advise on which supplements would be most suited to meet the
needs of different individuals. Once nutritional supplements are commenced
it is important to monitor the compliance with the supplements and monitor
the patients progression so that prescriptions can be altered accordingly and
therefore reduce wastage.

supplementation and would like a dietary assessment, please contact us.
