Peak Nutrition has been developed by Paul Gough and Niamh Gough, both of whom are fully qualified dietitians and members of the professional body The Irish Nutrition and Dietetic Intitute (INDI) and provide all advice to clients. Profiles are detailed below.
Paul Gough
Paul Gough qualified with a Batchelor of Science Honours Degree in Sport and Exercise Science from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow before completing a Post Graduate Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics in Glasgow Caledonian University with state registration to practice as a dietitian. Paul worked in a large university teaching hospital in Glasgow for 1 year covering the dietetic care of Stroke, ENT, Care of the Elderly and Oncology patients. After moving to Dublin Paul took up a post in St Vincent’s University Hospital for approximately 3 years covering Care of the Elderly, Eating Disorders, Pyschiatric Illness, Weight Management, ENT, Oncology, Surgical, Stroke, Respiratory Medicine and Cystic Fibrosis patients. During his time working in the acute setting, he has gained valuable experience providing dietetic advice to a large umber of patients with a wide range of complex conditions.
In the Sports setting, Paul has worked extensively in the physiological testing of elite athletes during his time in Glasgow and provided nutritional advice to many athletes in the Scottish institute of Sport. Paul is now secretary for the Sports Interest Group of the Irish Nutrition and Dietetic Institute (INDI) co-ordinating 150 members and is currently writing up his MSc on the nutritional intakes of the Irish Academy Rugby players compared to energy expenditure. More recently, he has taken up the post of sports nutrition consultant for Galway senior GAA football team.
Niamh Gough
Niamh Gough graduated with an Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Nutritional Science from UCC before moving to Glasgow where she completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics with state registration to practice as a dietitian. Following graduation, Niamh then moved to Dublin where she worked for almost 3 years in the Mater Misercordiae Hospital providing nutritional care to a wide variety of patients including Endocrinology, ENT Surgery (including Head and Neck Surgery), Plastics, Stroke, Neurology, Oncology, Care of the Elderly, Renal, Spinal, Orthopaedic Surgery, Respiratory Medicine, Weight Management and General Medical patients.
Niamh has also gained valuable experience working in St Mary’s Hospital in Pheonix Park, Dublin providing nutritional care to the Elderly and in the Mid-Western Regional Hospital, Limerick covering General Surgery, the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) and delivery of a cardiac rehabilitation programme to Out-Patients. Niamh is currently working in St Vincent’s University Hospital, Dublin providing dietetic service to General, Vascular and ENT Surgical in-patients and a weekly out-patient general clinic. She is now considered widely experienced in providing nutrition and dietetic care for many complex medical conditions and advising on weight management and healthy living.
